Hypnotherapy can be an effective way of helping you to quit smoking. A large-scale review of 633 evaluative studies of smoking cessation showed a success rate of 62% which compares favourably with other treatments (Viswesvaran & Schmidt, 1992).
More recent research has shown the benefits of providing smoking cessation support over two or three sessions rather than a single session (Lynn et al, 2016; Green & Lynn, 2017). The multi-session method allows a more tailored approach which helps client to increase motivation, identify alternative strategies and to maintain commitment over the long term.
